Kept current
The official apps update on their own schedule, and a stale self-hosted server eventually stops working with them. We track upstream releases and apply security updates promptly, so keeping the server current is our job, not yours.
Backups, honestly
We take routine encrypted platform backups so we can recover our infrastructure from failures. They are not a substitute for your own copies: your administrator must export the organisation vault regularly and store it safely. Because the vault is end-to-end encrypted, nobody but your team can reconstruct your data. The Terms of Service set out this split of responsibility.
Storing authenticator codes in the same encrypted vault is convenient, but it does not provide the same separation as a separate authenticator or hardware security key. Use a separate factor for your highest-risk administrator, email, banking and infrastructure accounts.

Set Up For You: the one-time setup
We import from your browsers, spreadsheets and old password manager, build a sensible sharing structure, set up and test two-step login enforcement and account recovery, run the recorded team session and hand the system over working. Scope is confirmed in writing before work begins. If your team is not migrated and using it within 30 days of kickoff, the setup fee is refunded.

Is this Bitwarden?
BusinessOps Passwords uses Vaultwarden, an independent open-source implementation compatible with official Bitwarden client applications. BusinessOps is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Bitwarden, Inc.
Can BusinessOps read our passwords?
Vault contents are encrypted on your device before synchronisation, and BusinessOps does not receive or store your master password. BusinessOps can administer the hosting environment and may access operational metadata required to run and support the service. The security documentation should define that boundary in detail.
What happens if someone forgets their master password?
Recovery depends on the organisation settings and administrator capabilities configured for your vault. Because of the encryption model, BusinessOps cannot simply reveal a forgotten master password. Administrators should configure and test recovery before relying on the vault.
Can we import our existing passwords?
Supported exports from common browsers and password managers can be imported. Because many export files are unencrypted, they must be handled carefully and securely deleted after migration. Guided migration is available as a fixed-scope service.
Can we use authenticator codes?
The vault can generate supported time-based one-time password codes. This is convenient, but for the most sensitive accounts we recommend using a separate authenticator or hardware security key.
What happens if we cancel?
Your vault is suspended and retained for about 30 days, then permanently deleted. Export the organisation’s vault data before that window closes: because the vault is end-to-end encrypted, BusinessOps cannot export or reconstruct it for you. Exact timing is governed by the Terms of Service, not hidden behind a lock-in.
Who is responsible for backups?
Both of us, for different things. BusinessOps takes routine encrypted platform backups so we can recover our own infrastructure from failures. You are responsible for keeping regular exports of your organisation’s vault as your own backup, and for verifying them. End-to-end encryption means nobody but your team can read or rebuild your data, so no platform backup can ever replace your own copy. The Terms of Service make this split explicit.
How much do you charge per user?
Nothing. Both plans include unlimited users. A password system only delivers when every employee is in it, and per-seat pricing punishes exactly that, so we do not charge per seat.
Does this make us AML or Privacy Act compliant?
No. Password management is one security control. Compliance depends on the services your business provides and the complete set of governance, risk, identity, record-keeping, reporting and privacy measures it implements.
